These fossils are internal cast fossils (fossils of the interior shape of the shell) of the species Turritella mortoni. They are perfect corkscrew spires of carbonate stone - an unusual and beautiful specimen for any fossil or mineral display.

The diet of Turritella species, including Turritella mortoni and its modern relatives, primarily consists of suspended organic particles in the water. These marine gastropods are suspension feeders, meaning they rely on currents to bring food to them.

Approximate Size of 1 piece: 6cm x 2.25cm x 2.25cm
Approximate Weight of 1 piece: 17g

Quantity: 1pc

We do our best to buy quality products- although not every rock is the same.
