Mined from: Kem Kem Beds, southeastern Morocco,
Era: Late Cretaceous
Geological Age: 100-94 mya
Description: This one of a kind Carcharodontosaurus tooth fossil specimen from Morocco is a long, blade-like fossil with a gently curved profile and a naturally tapered point. Its surface shows warm reddish brown, burnt umber, tan, and pale mineralized patches, giving the tooth a weathered desert-toned appearance. The form is slimmer and more laterally compressed than a Spinosaurus tooth, reflecting the cutting tooth shape associated with large predatory theropods. Natural surface texture, mineral staining, worn enamel areas, and age-earned irregularities are visible throughout, making this a striking prehistoric display piece.
Carcharodontosaurus was one of the largest meat-eating dinosaurs of the Cretaceous Period, with a name meaning “shark-toothed lizard” due to the sharp, serrated shape of its teeth. Fossils from this dinosaur are strongly associated with the Kem Kem Beds of Morocco, a famous fossil-bearing region that preserves remains from ancient river systems and coastal plains. Carcharodontosaurus lived roughly 90 to 100 million years ago and was one of the dominant predators of its environment, sharing the landscape with other prehistoric giants such as Spinosaurus and large crocodilian reptiles.
Spiritually, fossilized dinosaur teeth are often associated with ancient power, endurance, courage, and survival. Carcharodontosaurus fossils in particular carry a bold, primal energy, often viewed as symbolic of strength, determination, and the ability to move through challenges with confidence. As a collector specimen, this tooth offers both a connection to deep natural history and a dramatic reminder of one of prehistoric Africa’s apex predators.
