Beschreibung
Mined from: Brazil
Description: These polished Dumortierite tumbles from Brazil show deep denim to midnight-blue tones, crossed with pale quartz veins that highlight the stone’s fibrous texture. Each piece has a silky luster and dense polish, giving it the depth and quiet confidence of weathered stone. Durable and eye-catching, Dumortierite holds a Mohs hardness of 7–8.5, making it suitable for both collectors and jewelry makers.
Scientifically, Dumortierite is a borosilicate mineral typically found in aluminum-rich pegmatites and metamorphic rocks like gneiss and schist. Discovered in France in 1881 and named after paleontologist Eugène Dumortier, it’s often mistaken for sodalite or lapis lazuli. Under magnification, however, its fibrous inclusions and subtle translucence set it apart. Brazilian deposits, in particular, are known for producing some of the most vivid and finely structured specimens.
Many associate Dumortierite with discipline and mental clarity—qualities that seem fitting for a stone defined by structure and strength. Whether appreciated for its deep color, mineral composition, or quiet symbolism, Dumortierite offers a refined balance of beauty and resilience.
