Description: Turritella is a genus of aquatic snails with high spired, tightly coiled shells. These fossils are internal cast fossils (fossils of the interior shape of the shell) of the species Turritella Moroni. They are perfect corkscrew spires of carbonate stone - an unusual and beautiful specimen for any fossil or mineral display.

The diet of Turritella species, including Turritella mortoni and its modern relatives, primarily consists of suspended organic particles in the water. These marine gastropods are suspension feeders, meaning they rely on currents to bring food to them.
