Description: Woolly mammoths are extinct relatives of the elephants we have today that lived during the last ice age. Woolly mammoths were herbivores that ate mostly grass but also ate other types of flowers and plants. Woolly mammoths had long curved ivory tusks that could grow up to 15 feet. The ears of a woolly mammoth were smaller than an elephant we see today, being minimized by frostbite and heat loss from extreme cold weather.
These Mammoth bone fragments contain both a portion of the external wall as well as the inner porous of the bone. This porous is the honeycomb shaped structure that is seen in healthy bone.
