Description: Now, here's a mammoth of a fossil, no literally! Mammoth Teeth to be exact. The woolly mammoth (Mammuthus primigenius) is an extinct species of mammoth that lived during the Pleistocene until its extinction in the Holocene epoch. Its closest relative is the Asian Elephant. The woolly mammoth was roughly the same size as modern African elephants and their teeth were just as big. Each one of these mammoth teeth are unique and have an amazing structure to them. Defined by their vertical lines, each tooth contains both a portion of the upper tooth which was below the gumline which coming to a point, as well as a potion of the flat tooth surface that was used for chewing.
