Description: There are two pink quartz varieties that share the name "rose quartz", but are not related to one another beyond their color and name.

The more common variety, often used for carving, is found in translucent masses made of microscopic intergrown crystals, and gets its color from microscopic fibrous inclusions of a pink borosilicate mineral related to dumortierite known as "dididumortierite", as well as trace impurities of titanium, iron, or manganese. Well formed macro crystals of this variety have never been found. 

The variety for sale here, in contrast, is far more rare and sought after. Its color is caused by the action of natural radiation sources within the earth on aluminum and phosphorous impurities that became trapped within the quartz lattice as it grew. This variety is generally found as well formed, terminated crystals. These specimens are extremely rare, and are highly coveted among quartz collectors. 

Rose quartz is commonly associated with the heart chakra. Rose quartz is often used for emotional healing and balancing emotions. It is believed to help heal emotional wounds and promote inner peace and self-love. This crystal is associated with all forms of love—self-love, romantic love, familial love, and platonic love. It is thought to open up the heart chakra, allowing for the free flow of love and positive energy. By balancing the heart chakra, rose quartz is said to enhance feelings of compassion and empathy towards others, fostering better relationships and understanding.
