Mined from: Errachidia Province, High Atlas Mountains, Drâa-Tafilalet Region, Morocco
Description: This one of a kind specimen presents a heavier, more block-dominant feldspar structure compared to typical Moroccan tourmaline pieces, with large, well-formed feldspar crystals creating a strong geometric framework. The feldspar shows a pale cream to off-white coloration with subtle weathering and surface texture, while clusters of smoky grey quartz crystals fill the gaps between these larger blocks. The quartz forms short, terminated crystals with a slightly translucent body, adding depth and contrast across the specimen.
Black tourmaline appears throughout as smaller, sharply defined prismatic crystals, often partially embedded within the feldspar and quartz. One more prominent crystal rises vertically near the center, giving the piece a focal point and reinforcing the layered growth sequence. This association formed within granitic pegmatites, where feldspar crystallized first as the dominant mineral, followed by quartz as silica-rich fluids filled remaining space, and finally tourmaline crystallizing from boron-rich residual fluids. The High Atlas region is known for producing these balanced, multi-phase specimens that clearly show the progression of mineral formation.
Metaphysically, black tourmaline is commonly associated with protection and grounding, often believed to absorb or deflect negative energy. Combined with quartz, which is thought to amplify clarity and intention, and feldspar, associated with structure and stability, this piece is often appreciated as a balanced combination of grounding and mental focus.
