Description: Gem grade rough amethyst from Brazil is valued for its strong purple color, good transparency, and cutting potential. In rough form, it may appear as clean crystal pieces, point sections, or broken fragments with glassy faces and visible internal color. Depending on the lot, the material can range from light violet to rich purple, and the better pieces are suitable for faceting, wire wrapping, high-end cabochons, or keeping as natural crystal specimens.

Amethyst is the purple variety of quartz, colored mainly by trace iron and natural irradiation within the crystal structure. Much of Brazil’s famous amethyst comes from volcanic regions where silica-rich fluids filled gas pockets in basalt and slowly crystallized over time. Brazil has been one of the world’s most important amethyst sources for generations, producing everything from massive cathedral geodes to fine gem-grade rough used in jewelry cutting and lapidary work.

Amethyst is often associated with calm, clarity, and protection. Many people are drawn to it as a stone linked with steady thinking, emotional balance, and a more grounded state of mind. In gem-grade rough form, it also carries an added sense of potential, since the finished beauty is still waiting inside the stone.
