Mined from: Wagholi Quarries, Pune, Maharashtra, India
Description: This one of a kind Cavansite mineral specimen from India features a concentrated cluster of vivid blue crystals set into a dark brown basalt matrix with white to colourless secondary mineral growth. The Cavansite forms overlapping bladed and radiating crystal sprays, including a well-defined starburst cluster near the centre. Its strong blue colour stands out clearly against the darker host rock and pale crystalline coating. The matrix appears to include quartz and likely zeolite-group minerals commonly found with Cavansite in the basalt cavities of the Pune region.
Cavansite is a hydrated calcium vanadium silicate first described from Oregon in the United States. Its name comes from the main elements in its composition: calcium, vanadium and silicon. The best-known collector specimens were later found in the Wagholi quarry district near Pune, Maharashtra, where Cavansite occurs in cavities within Deccan Trap basalt alongside zeolite minerals and other secondary cavity deposits.
Spiritually, Cavansite is commonly associated with clear communication, insight, intuition and mental focus. Its blue colour is often linked with the throat and third-eye chakras. Some collectors use it during meditation or keep it near a workspace as a reminder to communicate clearly and stay mentally organized. These are traditional spiritual associations rather than scientifically established properties.
