Description: This lot of fossilized claws is incredibly well preserved. The highest grade pieces have perfectly preserved anatomy, letting you see exactly how these claws once attached to the massive paws of a cave bear. Their tips come to sharp, in tact points, and the bottoms that would have connected with the paw have well defined ridges with overhands where the joint was once situated.

The cave bear or Ursus Spelaeus was a large bear species that lived during the Pleistocene era. The male cave bears could grow to 3.5 meters tall while standing on their hind legs and weigh about 450 kilos.

These cave bears were about three times the size of the brown bears you see today. The cave bears have less pronounced snouts, lower foreheads, and their front legs were longer and stronger than the front. The cave bear's diet was mainly vegetarian.
