Description: These Ammonite pairs have been cracked open and sit in limestone cobbles. They can be slightly pyritized. The limestone is rather dull and not exciting, however, these Ammonites are in great condition and you can see all the intricate details of the shell.
Ammonites are an extinct form of mollusk that thrived in the seas during the time of the dinosaurs and are related to squid. Ammonites were born with tiny shells and, as they grew, they built new chambers onto them. They would move their entire body into the new chamber and seal off the old smaller chamber.
