Mined from: Pegmatite deposits, Nuristan / Kunar region, Afghanistan
Description: This one of a kind morganite specimen from Afghanistan shows a soft pink beryl crystal set in pale pegmatite matrix with bladed white albite and several attached translucent crystals. The main morganite has a gentle blush tone, broad faces, and a naturally etched surface that gives it a more sculptural look than a clean gem crystal. The surrounding matrix adds a lot of visual structure, with layered feldspar and associated crystal growth creating a piece that looks mineralogically complete rather than just broken from a larger crystal.
Morganite is the pink variety of beryl, and its color comes from trace amounts of manganese in the crystal structure. It forms in granitic pegmatites, which are coarse-grained igneous bodies famous for producing oversized crystals and concentrating uncommon elements like beryllium, lithium, and cesium. Afghanistan is one of the classic sources for pegmatite minerals, especially in the mountainous eastern regions where pockets have produced tourmaline, kunzite, aquamarine, and morganite. Specimens like this show that environment clearly, with the morganite preserved alongside feldspar-rich matrix from the original pocket.
Metaphysically, morganite is often associated with compassion, softness, and emotional balance. Many people are drawn to it for its calm presence and use it as a stone connected with love, patience, reassurance, and heart-centered reflection.
