Description: This one of a kind tanzanite specimen shows the deep blue-violet color that made the mineral famous, with a naturally terminated crystal shape and strong vertical striations running along the length of the crystal faces. The piece has a bold, sculptural form, with a pointed upper termination, stepped side growth, and translucent to semi-transparent body color that shifts from darker indigo to brighter violet-blue where the light passes through. It has the kind of strong natural geometry that makes rough tanzanite especially appealing, because even uncut, it already looks refined and dramatic.

Tanzanite is the blue to violet variety of zoisite, and it is found in only one small area of the world: the Merelani Hills of northern Tanzania. Its color is caused mainly by trace amounts of vanadium, and many crystals show pleochroism, meaning different shades can appear depending on the viewing angle. That optical behavior is part of what makes tanzanite so desirable in both mineral and gem form. This specimen keeps the natural crystal habit intact, showing the elongated growth, flat crystal faces, and internal color zoning that are usually lost once material is cut. Because tanzanite is relatively soft compared with sapphire or spinel and has perfect cleavage in one direction, intact crystals like this are appreciated not just for color, but for surviving in a recognizable natural form.

Many people are drawn to tanzanite for its association with insight, calm focus, and transformation. It is often chosen by those who feel they are entering a new stage of life and want something that symbolizes perspective, intuition, and thoughtful change. Its deep blue-violet color gives it a quiet but powerful presence, and many collectors value it as a stone that feels both refined and inwardly strong.
