Description: Woolly mammoths are extinct relatives of the elephants we have today that lived during the last ice age. Woolly mammoths were herbivores that ate mostly grass but also ate other types of flowers and plants. Woolly mammoths had long curved ivory tusks that could grow up to 15 feet. The ears on a woolly mammoth were smaller than an elephant we see today because they minimized frostbite and heat loss from extreme cold weather.
