Description: This blue corundum is same as sapphire, but it is a very low grade (opaque rather than transparent). It makes beautiful blue cabochons and is a prize of BC and one of our better materials.

Corundum is a form of aluminum oxide (Al2O3) and is one of the hardest minerals known, making it a popular choice for jewelry.

Blue corundum gets its distinctive blue color from the presence of trace elements of titanium and iron. The intensity of the blue color varies depending on the amount of these trace elements present.

In addition to its use in jewelry, Blue corundum also has some industrial applications. It is used as a high-performance material in various industries such as electronics, optics, and aerospace.
