Description: This blue corundum is same as sapphire, but it is a very low grade (opaque rather than transparent). It makes beautiful blue cabochons and is a prize of BC and one of our better materials.

Blue corundum gets its distinctive blue color from the presence of trace elements of titanium and iron. The intensity of the blue color varies depending on the amount of these trace elements present.
