Description: Mushroom Rhyolite is found in several areas northwest of Phoenix, Arizona. The rock gets its name from the repeating gray pattern that sometimes looks like a mass of growing mushrooms. Due to the high silica content, rhyolite lava is very viscous. Some portions contain a reddish halo which surrounds the outside of the gray massive "thundereggs" providing a colorful contrast on the rock. When cut in half the mushroom looks like a burst within the rock formation.
Mushroom rhyolite is believed to beneficial in the treatment of blood and heart disorders. Mushroom Rhyolite is known for its energy generating, and blockage removing properties it is useful in neurological disorders.
