Description: Obsidian is a naturally occurring volcanic glass formed in swiftly cooling lava that has a high silica content. Snowflake Obsidian gets its name from the tiny white mineral inclusions, cristobalite, that form little snowflakes-like patterns throughout the dark stone. It is believed that snowflake obsidian lets you see the dark and uncomfortable sides of your nature, bringing you back into wholeness. The black of the obsidian and the white of the snowflakes represent the balancing of dark and light. Snowflakes obsidian has a dramatic striking pattern, which represents the patterns we create in our own lives, thoughts and behaviors. It's also believed that snowflake obsidian dissolves shocks, fears and traumas, dissolving both physical and emotional pains. Like a sky full of beautiful snowflakes, snowflake obsidian restores something: a deep, abiding sense of protection and reverence.
