Description: "Zebra Calcite" is a trade name for strongly banded carbonate stone, not a separate mineral. Most of it is calcite-rich (calcium carbonate), but not every piece is pure calcite: some contain aragonite, dolomite, iron oxides or other dark mineral-rich layers that form the stripes. Calcite-rich areas are soft, about 3 on the Mohs scale.

In Crystal Lore: In crystal lore, calcite is traditionally associated with cleansing a space, clear thinking and fresh insight, and zebra calcite with balancing opposites, like its light and dark bands. Some believe it is a good desk or study stone. It is linked with the third eye chakra and, in zodiac traditions, with Cancer.
