Description: These facets come in various free-forms, as well as traditional shapes. Mirror cuts are very unique in that the pavilion side walls have specific angles that cause the light to reflect within.
When the pavilion is cut too shallow, light passes through the whole stone and "windows". However when the pavilions are cut around 42 degrees or steeper, the light bounces off the inside of the stone and causes the pavilion walls to resemble mirrors. That's why you cant see the hand passing underneath in the video.
The Mirror cutting makes these exceptional stones to play with as a carver, because anything you carve underneath will be replicated in the opposing pavilion wall.
Due to the fact that we have over 50 000 loose gemstones in store that all differ, we have chosen not to post every individual stone. What you see here is a sample from the larger batch. Please shop in store, or schedule a phone/ video appointment with us.
