Description: Lepidolite is a lithium-rich mica mineral recognized for its lilac, lavender, and soft purple coloration. It belongs to the mica group and forms in granitic pegmatites, where slow cooling of magma allows rare elements such as lithium, potassium, and aluminum to concentrate and crystallize. Brazil is one of the world’s most significant sources of lepidolite, producing large deposits that are often associated with other lithium-bearing minerals like spodumene and tourmaline.

When cut with a polished face, lepidolite reveals its fine mica layers and natural shimmer caused by its platy crystal structure. The mineral typically appears massive rather than forming distinct crystals and may show subtle sparkling reflections across the surface. Due to its lithium content, lepidolite is also studied as a potential source of lithium used in modern battery technology.
