Description: This polished rhodochrosite freeform shows a softer, more diffuse pink compared to the sharper banded material, with areas of semi-translucent rose and cloudy internal texture. One side reveals a natural cavity with crystalline interiors, while the opposite face exposes classic concentric banding with cream and grey zoning. The shaping follows the natural structure of the material, giving it a flame-like silhouette while preserving internal features like vugs and layered growth.

Rhodochrosite from Capillitas forms when manganese-rich hydrothermal fluids move through fractures in volcanic rock and deposit manganese carbonate over time. The variation between the more solid pink areas and the banded, almost agate-like sections reflects changes in fluid chemistry and growth conditions. The more crystalline pockets form where open space allowed slower, uninterrupted crystal growth, while the dense zones formed where space was limited and material compacted as it precipitated.
