Description: The Squalicorax is an extinct genus of shark that lived during the Late Cretaceous period, approximately 70 to 80 million years ago. It belonged to the family Squalicoracidae and is often referred to as a "devil shark" because of its distinctive, serrated teeth that resemble those of modern-day predatory sharks.

Squalicorax sharks were relatively small compared to some of their contemporaries, with some species growing to lengths of around 2 to 3 meters (6.6 to 10 feet). They were likely active predators, feeding on fish, cephalopods, and possibly other marine animals. Fossils of Squalicorax are found in various parts of the world, including North America, Europe, and Africa, indicating that they had a wide distribution during their time.

Their fossilized teeth are among the most commonly found shark teeth from the Cretaceous period and are often used in paleontological studies to understand the marine ecosystems of that era.
