Description

Origin: Wessels Mine, Northern Cape Province, South Africa

Description: Sugilite is still around today, but in very low quality. Most of it is almost pure black. This sugilite is pure purple. Some is verging on jelly, but most is just solid opaque purple. It is old stock from about 20 years ago. It is cutting and specimen grade.

*Note, sugilite is sold per gram, not per piece. For example, if you place an order for 10 grams, it is for a single 10 gram stone, not for 10 stones. If you want to divide your order weight among several smaller stones instead of one big one, please specify in the order notes.*

Chemical Composition: SiO2

Grade: Precious
Appearance: Translucent/ Opaque
Inclusions: Some of these stones have cracks. Small pieces are more likely to have flaws than large pieces. There is riebeckite (blue) in some of the stones- which actually adds value. Some have black host rock, or small white dots. but the overwhelming majority of this stone is purple.

Cost per Gram: $9.00
