Mined from: Errachidia Province, High Atlas Mountains, Drâa-Tafilalet Region, Morocco

Description: This one of a kind tourmaline on feldspar specimen from Morocco is a dense, highly textured cluster featuring black schorl crystals embedded throughout a creamy to beige feldspar matrix. The feldspar forms blocky, weathered crystals with a rough, almost granular surface, while smaller grey quartz points and scattered tourmaline rods add contrast and depth. The tourmaline crystals are slender, sharply terminated in places, and distributed across the piece, giving it a busy, mineral-rich appearance rather than a single focal point.

This type of specimen forms in granitic pegmatites, where slow cooling allows large feldspar crystals to grow alongside quartz and accessory minerals like tourmaline. The black tourmaline here is schorl, an iron-rich variety that commonly develops as elongated prisms with vertical striations. Moroccan pegmatites, particularly in the High Atlas region, are known for producing complex mineral associations like this, where multiple species crystallize together in tight, intergrown pockets. The presence of quartz, feldspar, and tourmaline reflects a chemically evolved melt rich in silica, aluminum, boron, and iron.

Metaphysically, black tourmaline is often associated with grounding and protection. It is commonly used as a stone believed to absorb negative energy and create a sense of stability, while the feldspar matrix is sometimes linked to support, structure, and helping maintain balance during periods of change.
