This wood is legally obtained from the last ranch it can be dug on. The wood is about 212 million years old- so its not really wood anymore. The colours in this wood are awestriking. purples, reds, yellows and oranges... much like a beautiful sunset. Route 66 of USA used to cut right through this site, now it is protected as the Rainbow Forest Petrified Forest National Park.

Petrified wood is a type of fossil formed when plant material, typically wood, is buried under sediment and then subjected to heat and pressure over millions of years. During this process, the organic material is replaced by minerals, usually silica, which crystallize and preserve the original structure of the wood. The result is a beautiful, often colorful stone that retains the grain and texture of the original wood.

Petrified wood from the Arizona Petrified Forest is famous for its vibrant colors and remarkable preservation. Located in the Petrified Forest National Park, this area showcases ancient trees that lived around 200 million years ago. The wood has undergone a permineralization process, primarily involving silica, which gives it beautiful hues of reds, browns, yellows, and even blues and greens.

Chemical Composition: SiO2

Grade: Lapidary Grade
Appearance: Translucent/ Opaque
Inclusions: Cracks are significant in this material, it is just the nature of it. other than that it has no useless rind or any other issues.

Cost per Gram: $0.10
Size approximately 1 pc: 7cm x 8cm x 4.5cm
Weight approximately 1 pc: 206g

Rough is rough.
