Description: These egg carvings are made from red selenite. Red selenite is a variety of gypsum, specifically a colored form of the mineral selenite (CaSO₄·2H₂O). The red coloration comes from iron oxide (hematite) inclusions, which stain the otherwise colorless or white selenite into shades of red, orange, or peach.
