描述

Mined from: Antsirabe area, Vakinankaratra Region, Madagascar

Description:  This one of a kind Amethyst Smoky Quartz polished freeform specimen from Madagascar features a sculptural cluster-like form with soft purple, smoky brown, grey, and translucent quartz tones. The specimen shows a mix of natural crystal faces and carefully reworked surfaces, with polished terminations, cleaned-up edges, and exposed internal veils that give the piece strong depth and character. The base has been cut flat to create a sturdy foundation, allowing the crystal to stand securely as a display specimen.

This piece began as a natural smoky Amethyst crystal blend that was damaged during mining. To restore its visual structure, the crystal points and some of the damaged faces have been cleaned up and shaped, creating a specimen that combines natural crystal growth with skilled lapidary restoration. The result is a polished freeform that still preserves the original mineral character while giving the piece a more stable, balanced, and refined presentation.

Amethyst and Smoky Quartz are both varieties of quartz, with Amethyst known for its purple colour and Smoky Quartz known for its grey-brown to smoky tones. Madagascar is well known for producing distinctive quartz specimens, including Amethyst, Smoky Quartz, and blended quartz forms with attractive colour zoning and internal inclusions. Spiritually, Amethyst is often associated with calm, clarity, and intuition, while Smoky Quartz is commonly connected with grounding, protection, and emotional steadiness.
