Description: This piece is built around those classic sharp “dogtooth” calcite crystals, but with a bit more going on than the usual clean points. The main crystals are a pale green to yellow-green, semi-translucent, with a slightly frosted look from natural etching and surface texture. Around and over them, you’ve got smaller calcite crystals growing in tight clusters, giving parts of the piece a rough, sugary finish. Underneath, there’s darker material—fluorite—showing through in spots, along with some iron staining that adds those tan and brown tones. It’s a solid, chunky specimen with a mix of sharp structure and layered growth.
In this part of Pakistan, these form in limestone-hosted systems where mineral-rich fluids move through fractures and open spaces underground. The fluorite typically forms first, filling cavities as a base layer. Later, calcium-rich fluids move through and start growing calcite on top of that, often in these scalenohedral “dogtooth” shapes. The green tint in the calcite can come from trace elements or slight interaction with surrounding minerals during growth. The rough, etched look on some of the larger crystals usually means the environment shifted after formation—slight changes in chemistry can partially dissolve and then re-grow surfaces, giving them that textured finish instead of smooth faces.
Calcite like this is often associated with clarity and getting your head straight when things feel cluttered. People tend to use it as something that helps with focus and decision-making, while fluorite underneath is commonly linked to organization and mental order. Together, they’re seen as a combination that supports clear thinking and staying on track.
