Like other sodalite verities, Hackmanite fluoresces a bright orange color when exposed to UV light. What makes Hackmanite special amongst fluorescent sodalites is the property of  tenebrescence or reversible photochromism. \u003c\/span\u003eThis means that hackmanite changes color when exposed to different types of light. When exposed to ultraviolet light, Hackmanite changes from a pale color (such as pale purple or pink) to a deep violet or hot pink.
