Description: Iolite from India is a gemstone variety of the mineral cordierite, known for its distinctive violet-blue to deep indigo coloration. The stone often shows pleochroism, meaning it can display different shades of blue, gray, or violet depending on the viewing angle. This optical effect made iolite historically useful to Viking navigators, who are believed to have used thin pieces of the mineral as a polarization filter to help locate the sun on cloudy days.

This worry stone has been polished with a smooth thumb indentation, making it comfortable to hold and rub between the fingers.
