描述
Mined from: India
Description: Kammererite is a chromium-rich variety of clinochlore from the chlorite mineral group. These palmstones from India show a mix of purple and green tones, often with a subtle reflective shimmer caused by the mineral’s layered crystal structure. Polishing the stone into a palmstone shape highlights the natural color contrast and makes the surface smooth and comfortable to hold.
The mineral was first identified in the Ural Mountains of Russia in the 1800s and named after Russian mining engineer August Alexander Kämmerer. Kammererite forms in chromium-rich metamorphic environments, typically within altered ultramafic rocks associated with serpentine and chromite deposits. The purple coloration is caused by chromium within the structure, while green tones come from the base chlorite composition.
Metaphysically, kammererite is associated with insight, reflection, and mental clarity. Many people use it during meditation or quiet contemplation as a stone believed to support intuition and thoughtful decision-making.
Chemical Composition: (Mg,Fe²⁺)₅Al(AlSi₃O₁₀)(OH)₈ with Cr³⁺ substituting for Al³⁺ (chromium-bearing clinochlore, chlorite group)
