Description: Rubies are precious gemstones known for their vibrant red color. They are composed of the mineral corundum, which is an aluminum oxide (Al₂O₃). The red color of rubies is primarily due to the presence of trace amounts of chromium. Rubies belong to the same family as sapphires, and the distinction between the two lies in the color: red corundum is classified as ruby, while corundum of any other color is classified as sapphire. 

The term "star ruby" refers to rubies that exhibit asterism—a star-like optical phenomenon. This effect is caused by the presence of needle-like inclusions of the mineral rutile within the ruby. When a star ruby is cut, light reflecting off these inclusions forms a star pattern, typically with six rays, though stars with four or twelve rays can also occur.

The rubies in this lot are elongated naturally formed ruby crystals. Their tips are polished to show the star.

In metaphysical and spiritual practices, rubies are associated with the Root Chakra (Muladhara), which is located at the base of the spine. The Root Chakra is considered the foundation of energy, stability, and grounding in the body, representing our sense of safety, security, and basic survival instincts.
