Description: This one of a kind Amethyst sphere mineral specimen from Brazil features a broad open face covered with pale to medium purple Amethyst crystals. The crystal growth is dense, with a mix of small sharp points and larger terminations running across the cavity. Clear to milky quartz is visible around the outer edge, followed by thin white and grey agate banding and a polished dark grey exterior. Small areas of brown-orange iron oxide staining appear between some of the crystals, adding natural contrast without taking away from the overall purple colour.

Amethyst is the purple variety of quartz, with its colour generally caused by trace iron and natural irradiation within the crystal structure. Brazil is one of the world’s largest sources of Amethyst, especially from geode-bearing basalt deposits in Rio Grande do Sul. Large geodes from this region are commonly cut, shaped, and polished into spheres, cathedrals, freeforms, and display specimens while leaving part of the natural crystal pocket exposed.

Amethyst is commonly associated with calm, clear thinking, rest, meditation, and emotional balance. Agate is often connected with stability and grounding. These are traditional spiritual beliefs rather than scientifically proven properties.
