Beschreibung

Mined from: Morrison Formation, Utah, U.S.A.

Era: Mesozoic
Geological Age: 155–148 mya

Description: This one of a kind dinosaur bone cross section from Utah has a broad oval cut face with a preserved ring of porous bone texture around the edge and mineral-filled structure through the center. The surface shows tan, cream, brown, rust, grey, and darker mineral areas, with the rough natural outer bone left visible along the sides. The quarter in the photos shows this is a larger display specimen with a solid, flat profile.

The Morrison Formation is a a Late Jurassic rock unit famous for dinosaur fossils across the western United States. During fossilization, minerals moved through the porous bone, preserving the original structure while turning it into stone over millions of years.

Spiritually, dinosaur bone is often associated with grounding, endurance, ancient memory, strength, and survival through deep time. This cross section has a more natural museum-style look, making it appealing to collectors who like fossils that still show their original bone shape and structure.
