Beschreibung

Mined from: Touissit mining district, Oriental Region, Morocco

Description

This specimen features a dense cluster of sharply formed scalenohedral calcite crystals with a warm honey-beige tone and subtle smoky zoning toward the tips. The crystals are well terminated and tightly packed, forming a ridge-like structure that reflects growth into an open cavity. The semi-translucent bodies allow light to pass through while darker internal phantoms and inclusions create depth, giving the piece a layered, almost architectural appearance.

The Touissit mining district is known for producing calcite in association with lead-zinc hydrothermal systems, where mineral-rich fluids moved through fractures and voids, depositing calcite in successive stages. The slight color zoning and variation in clarity across the cluster suggest changing fluid chemistry during growth, while the surrounding matrix shows remnants of the host rock and later mineral deposition. Compared to darker specimens, this piece leans toward a cleaner, more luminous aesthetic while still retaining natural character.

Metaphysically, dogtooth calcite is often associated with clarity, direction, and focus. The pointed crystal forms are believed to help channel intention and sharpen mental processes, while the softer beige tones are thought to support calm, steady energy and balanced decision-making.
