Locality: Larch Hills, near Salmon Arm, British Columbia, Canada
Description: Ocean Picture Rock is a banded chalcedony (sometimes mislabelled as jasper) found in British Columbia with translucent blue patches intermixed with brown/black host rock. Ocean picture rock is often cut as cabs to produce an oceanic scene. The host rock becomes beach sand, the blue the water, and white areas become clouds in the sky.
