Beschreibung

Locality: Zagi Mountains, Peshawar District, KPK Province, Pakistan

Description: These quartz crystals come from Zagi Mountain near Peshawar in Pakistan. The mountain is part of an alkaline granite complex, and it is known to collectors for unusual minerals, including riebeckite, astrophyllite, aegirine and rare-earth minerals.

Riebeckite is a sodium iron amphibole that grows as dark needles. At Zagi Mountain its needles are often caught inside quartz crystals. When the riebeckite inclusions are very fine and spread through the crystal, they make the quartz look blue.

Zagi Mountain lies just outside Peshawar.

These pieces are quartz crystals tinted blue by riebeckite inclusions.

In crystal traditions, riebeckite is associated with a calm mind and dream work.
