Locality: Kharan District, Balochistan, Pakistan

Brookite was named in 1825 by the mineralogist Armand Lévy in honour of Henry James Brooke (1771–1857), an English textile manufacturer and amateur crystallographer who was a fellow of the Royal Society. Its type locality, where it was first described, is in Gwynedd, Wales.

Brookite is one of the natural forms of titanium dioxide, together with rutile and anatase. It is found as an accessory mineral in alpine-type veins in gneiss and schist and in hydrothermal veinlets, often with quartz, anatase, rutile and hematite. It is a widespread mineral, but only a few localities produce fine crystals.

This one of a kind Brookite on Quartz specimen from Pakistan features a large reddish-brown Brookite crystal set across a cluster of smoky grey to clear Quartz points. The main Brookite crystal has a flat, bladed form with strong striations, darker edges, and a glassy metallic shine that shifts from bronze to deep brown depending on the angle. Smaller Brookite blades and fragments are scattered around the Quartz, giving the piece a sharp, layered look. The Quartz crystals show natural terminations with some grey-green surface coating, light iron staining, and small bits of matrix, keeping the specimen rugged and natural rather than overly cleaned or polished.

Brookite is one of the three main natural forms of titanium dioxide, along with Rutile and Anatase. It is less common than Quartz and is often collected for its thin bladed crystal habit and metallic to submetallic shine. Balochistan, Pakistan is known for producing attractive Brookite specimens, especially when the Brookite forms on Quartz or Alpine-type matrix. These pieces are usually appreciated by mineral collectors because Brookite has a more unusual look than many common display minerals.

Spiritually, Brookite is often associated with focus, direction, and clearing scattered energy, while Quartz is commonly linked with clarity, amplification, and steady energy. Together, this pairing is often seen as a stone combination for mental sharpness, organization, and staying on task. Even without the metaphysical side, it is a strong collector piece because of the contrast between the flat metallic Brookite and the sharper Quartz crystals.
