Description: This striking one-of-a-kind specimen features a dense growth of dark Brookite crystals associated with Goethite, most likely from the historic Rutherford Deposit at Moses Hill in Magnet Cove, Arkansas. The Brookite forms abundant thick, bladed to blocky crystals with strongly striated surfaces, ranging from dark olive-black to nearly opaque black. Beneath and between the Brookite are reddish-brown to dark brown iron-rich Goethite formations, creating an unusually complex and highly textured specimen.

Magnet Cove is one of the classic localities for Brookite and is particularly noted for producing unusually thick, black crystals. Brookite from this district was historically called “Arkansite” before being recognized as Brookite, and the locality remains one of the most important American occurrences of the species.

Brookite is associated with expanded awareness, transformation and energetic clarity, while Goethite is traditionally associated with grounding, stability and connection with the Earth.
