Description: Carnelian is a reddish-orange variety of chalcedony, which is a mineral in the quartz family. It is known for its warm, vibrant color, ranging from pale orange to deep red. The name "carnelian" is derived from the Latin word "carnis," meaning "flesh," which refers to its fleshy, reddish hue. Carnelian has been valued since ancient times. It was commonly used in jewelry, seals, and amulets. In ancient Egypt, carnelian was believed to have protective and healing properties. The stone was also popular in ancient Rome and Greece, often used in signet rings, which were pressed into wax to create official seals.
These carved carnelian eggs have open caves in their faces. Inside these caves, the red chalcedony gives way to sparkly coatings of small quartz crystals (druzy).
Carnelian is most commonly associated with the Sacral Chakra (Svadhisthana), which is the second chakra in the body’s energy system. The Sacral Chakra is located in the lower abdomen, just below the navel, and is linked to creativity, sexuality, and emotional balance.
