Locality: China

Description: Goldstone is actually a human made glass with copper flakes in it. Its documented history begins with glassmakers in Murano, Venice, around 1600. Legend credits monks practicing alchemy, who were said to be trying to make gold and accidentally spilled copper into glass. Ever since, it has been recreated for its beauty and has somehow found its place in the lapidary community.
