It can also be used for flat lapping or as a substitute for first stage of tumbling. I however, prefer the 60/90 blend for better stock removal when tumbling.

Silicon Carbide is the most effective and best bang for your buck when it comes to any generic lapidary abrasive media. It is not sandblasting grade, it is lapidary grade.
