Description

Mined from: Kerrouchen, Touissit, Oumjrane region (Anti-Atlas, Morocco)

Description: This azurite from Oumjrane, Morocco is a solid little cluster with really sharp, chunky crystals packed together tight. It’s got that dark, almost black look at first glance, but when the light hits it, you get those deep blue flashes coming through on the faces and edges. The crystals are well-formed and have a nice natural shine to them, and the underside has that fine, rough azurite texture that gives it a bit of contrast. It’s a sturdy piece, not delicate, and it sits well for display.

Azurite’s a copper mineral — chemical formula Cu₃(CO₃)₂(OH)₂ — and it forms in the oxidized parts of copper deposits. The stuff coming out of Oumjrane is known for being darker and more solid like this, not the soft or powdery kind you see elsewhere. These tighter, well-crystallized pieces are what most collectors go for because they hold up better and just look cleaner overall.

People usually say azurite helps clear your head and get you thinking straight. It’s tied to focus, awareness, and cutting through the noise a bit. Whether you buy into that or not, it’s one of those stones people like to keep around when they want to stay sharp or get a different angle on things.
