Description: Black Tourmaline is the black variety of tourmaline, known mineralogically as schorl. It is a complex borosilicate mineral that commonly forms in igneous and metamorphic environments, especially in pegmatites, which are extremely coarse-grained igneous rocks that often produce large and well-formed crystals. Material from China can occur in sharply striated prismatic crystals, dense masses, or matrix specimens, and it is valued for its strong crystal habit, dark luster, and durable structure.

As a mineral specimen, Black Tourmaline is appreciated for both its geological character and its visual presence.
