Description: This one of a kind Golden Duck Bill Selenite specimen from Manitoba, Canada forms a dense, rounded cluster of broad, flattened gypsum crystals with pointed, duck-bill-like terminations. The crystals range from pale champagne and honey-gold to smoky brown, with translucent edges and a soft glassy to pearly lustre. Larger blades rise above a tightly packed centre of smaller crystals, creating a layered, flower-like shape with strong texture from every angle. Natural surface marks, minor edge wear, and a few small white mineral deposits are visible throughout, while several clearer crystals project from the sides and add contrast to the darker golden core.

Golden Duck Bill Selenite is a crystalline variety of gypsum, a hydrated calcium sulfate mineral formed in evaporite deposits where mineral-rich waters gradually leave gypsum behind. Manitoba is especially well known for these distinctive duck bill formations, most commonly associated with the Red River Floodway area near Winnipeg and deposits related to the ancient Lake Agassiz basin. Unlike long wand-style selenite, these specimens are prized for their curved tabular blades, rosette-like clusters, warm amber to smoky colouration, and unusual natural form. They are also increasingly sought after because this material is no longer legally allowed to be mined, making existing specimens finite and more collectible.
