Description

Mined from: Mahajanga Province, Madagascar

Description: This one of a kind Septarian carved bowl statement specimen from Madagascar features a polished bowl form with a rugged natural exterior and a beautifully patterned interior. The inside of the bowl displays classic Septarian contrast, with warm golden-yellow Calcite-filled veins, dark brown to black Aragonite or mineral-rich outlines, and grey limestone/concretion sections forming a dramatic cracked “dragon stone” pattern. The exterior has been left more natural and textured, showing grey-brown matrix with exposed vein patterns, while the polished rim and interior give the piece a refined display quality.

Septarian, also known as Septarian nodule or Dragon Stone, formed millions of years ago when mud concretions dried, cracked, and later filled with minerals such as Calcite, Aragonite, and limestone. Madagascar is one of the most well-known sources of decorative Septarian material, especially for carved bowls, freeforms, spheres, and display pieces. The striking cracked patterns and earthy color palette make Septarian especially popular among collectors and interior decor enthusiasts.

Spiritually, Septarian is often associated with grounding, confidence, patience, and steady personal strength. Many people connect it with calming energy, emotional stability, and a strong connection to the Earth. As a carved bowl, this piece may also be used decoratively to hold small crystals, jewelry, offerings, or other keepsakes.
