Description: A classic Canadian mineral specimen! The red river floodway is a man made canal built in the mid 1960's to protect the city of Winnipeg from flooding. These golden gems of selenite crystals form as beautiful rosettes form in clay several meters below the surface when water rich in gypsum evaporates. Unfortunately, it has been illegal to enter the floodway to collect these specimens for over 20 years, making these specimens highly sought after and hard to find today.

Not only are these selenite specimens UV reactive but they are also phosphorescent! They glow a ghostly green-white color under UV light, and then continue to glow for several seconds after the UV light is removed! 

This lot features single crystal points. We also have the more well known cluster specimens that these points come from - they are like ball shaped rosettes formed from countless smaller intergrown blades! Selenite is associated with the Crown Chakra. It is often used during meditation to deepen the experience and facilitate a connection with spiritual guides or higher self. It is believed to cleanse and strengthen the aura, removing any stagnant or negative energy.
