Description

Mined from: Ganesh Himal region, Bagmati, Nepal

Description: This one of a kind chlorite quartz specimen from Ganesh Himal has a striking, sculptural look. The quartz crystals are long, narrow, and sharply pointed, with a dark chlorite-rich appearance that gives the whole piece a dramatic black to deep charcoal tone. From the photos, the specimen has a very linear, blade-like arrangement, with several crystals crossing and stacking over one another in a way that makes it look architectural rather than chunky. There are also small clear to pale quartz points and bits of matrix still attached, which add contrast and keep it looking natural and untrimmed.

Ganesh Himal is one of Nepal’s best known mineral regions, especially for alpine-style quartz pockets that produce aesthetic collector pieces. In these environments, mineral-rich fluids move through fractures in metamorphic rock and grow crystals in open spaces. Chlorite can become trapped inside the quartz during growth or coat surfaces later, giving the crystals their smoky green, dark green, or nearly black look. On this specimen, the dark chlorite effect is bold enough that the quartz reads almost like black crystal blades, which is part of what makes the piece so unusual and eye-catching.

Metaphysically, chlorite quartz is often associated with clearing, grounding, and energetic renewal. Many people are drawn to it because it combines the amplifying quality traditionally linked with quartz and the earthy, stabilizing feel associated with chlorite-bearing stones. In a specimen like this, that appeal is heightened by the sharp crystal form and strong, serious color.
