Description: These specimens are sold under the name "Imilchil", a market town in Morocco's High Atlas. Mindat notes that material sold under this name actually comes from the nearby Agoudim area in Midelt Province. Andradite, including a dark titanium-rich form, and epidote are both recorded there.
Andradite is a calcium iron garnet. Its varieties include green demantoid, yellow to brown topazolite and black melanite. These pieces are the black kind. Epidote is a calcium aluminium iron silicate that often grows as green, striated crystals.
These are lustrous dark garnet crystals with green epidote.
In crystal traditions, epidote is regarded as a protective stone.
